Good morning! Y'all, GOD IS GOOD! we saw so many miracles and tender mercies this week it was insane!
We met with our friend Alonzo this week and he's been taught for a while by missionaries. From previous contacts whenever the missionaries would talk about baptism it sounded like he would avoid that conversation but we decided to bring it up again in our lesson since that's our purpose as missionaries yu know. We taught him the doctorine of baptism and he seemed really receptive and open about it the whole time! He wasn't 100% but he said he'd pray about it which is progress!
We have a awesome ward mission leader who literally invites everyone he comes in contact with to church! He referred us to a guy named Joshua and his son Carson. We had a lesson with them and before the lesson even began Joshua had tears in his eyes telling us about his life story and all the hard times he's been through and how he's gotten to the place he is now. Seriously a trooper. We taught the gospel of Jesus christ and also introduced the Book of Mormon to him, throughout the whole lesson his tears did not stop. We invited him to read the book of mormon and pray about it. We invited him to be baptized once he knew that book of mormon was true and he said YES. We put him and his son on date for November 23rd. We met with them again later on in the week and followed up with his reading and prayer. He shared a really cool experience on how he literally flipped open a page and his question was answered about whether he should be baptized. He read 2 nephi 31:13-14. He then told us he wanted to be baptized the next day! Crazy! God truly prepared people to receive the gospel and that experience strengthened my testimony on that truth! He also played guitar for us and it was so good!
After that lesson, we headed to another lesson we had with a semi active member in the ward named Misty and her daughter. Little did we know that they lived in downtown salt lake city...I realized I was driving next to temple square and said a little oooops since we went very far out of our area and mission. But it was a accident I promise! We met Misty and she let us into her home. She struggles a lot and deals with mental health issues as well. She became homeless and a very young age and has been through so much. From the experience we had with her it truly made me feel so blessed for all i have and all im blessed with since they didnt have very much but were so humble and postive. We had a short lesson about the atonement of jesus christ and then headed back.
I went on exchanges with Sister Tafau who's from Somoa. I went to her area and we only had 1 planned lesson, so we had lots of time to find! We were able to meet David! David is not baptized so we shared a scripture about baptism and he said he wants to be baptized and he's on date now! Yay!
We had Zone conference on Wednesday and that was great! We got a training on how to find success as missionaries: 1. Work with members! 2. Work hard! 3. Have faith In your area! So good. We also had a discussion on comparison and why we shouldn't compare ourselves to other missionaries.
MLC was on Thursday and it was sooooo good. I loved evreything about it. President and Sister Hisong joined us from the Nashville TN mission (their besties w the Watson's) in MLC we came up with a game plan for 2025 to make that year the best year yet and to exceed our baptism goal! (and maybe move up to #2) We discussed things that the mission needs to improve on and made a plan on how to do so. We also talked about our missionary purpose and how we can internalize that and our responsibilities as members of the mlc. Overall it was really good!
We had our last zone council of the transfer and it went really well. Sister Lamipeti and I trained on using members to help get our friends to church!
Okay, so there's this boy that's been coming to church for a while now named Hunter who we heard wants to be baptized. However we've been having a hard time getting a lesson with him. On Sunday night we felt prompted to go knock his door and his parents answered! They're both inactive members, super nice, and let us come in to meet with Hunter. We taught the gospel of Jesus christ and put Hunter on date for November 23rd! YAYY so excited! He wants to be baptized so bad!
Spiritual moment ♡
The scriptures Joshua read:
2 Nephi 31:13-14
13 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism—yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost; yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.
14 But, behold, my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying: After ye have repented of your sins, and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to keep my commandments, by the baptism of water, and have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with the tongue of angels, and after this should deny me, it would have been better for you that ye had not known me.
Hey, don't forget GOD ♡♡♡s YOU !
