This Work Is So Good!!
Hey yall!
Oh what a week it has been!
Sunday 20th- Wednesday 23rd:
My last days at the mtc! Honestly this was all a blur but here's what I remember lol- sunday we had our church meetings and another go and do experience which was really good! We had choir practice again and sang a missionary medley which was really great! Monday we had a workshop discussing how we can help members participate in missionary work . The rest of the week we had our classes peer usual but Tuesday we had our devotional with Elder Johnson of the 70 which was super good! Our district also went to the temple and did sealings! I love the temple so much! Wednesday in our class we wrote a letter about what we think our savior Jesus christ would be telling us right now and that was a super spiritual moment for me. In the last hour of my last ever class at the mtc we had a testimony meeting which was also super spiritual- I wasn't planning on bearing my testimony because I knew I was going to start to cry and I HATE crying in front of people but alas everyone gave their testimony except me so I ended up bearing my testimony + crying lol but it's OK that night we said our goodbyes to our district and it was so sad because I think we all got pretty close :')
Thursday the 24th woke up at 5 to leave for the field. Left at 7:30am and took the train to Salt Lake city. We got there around 10am and met my district president and his wife and they're so awesome! Love them! We then went to This is the Place monument and drove by East High School! (GO WILDCATS! ) later after many hours with some trainings, interviews and studies we all met our new trainers! I'm with Sister Heckert and she is AWESOME! We get along pretty well and these last few weeks have been great! After we met the work started INSTANTLY! We went to a stake youth activity to see if our friend was there and then went to a mission call opening. After that i had my first lesson with our friend Ashish. We talked to him about CPR-church, prayer and reading the scriptures. And then I felt prompted to share a scripture and a personal experience which was awesome! I can testify that we can 100% teach by the spirit since I wasn't planning on saying any of that before ! I then invited him to be baptized and he said YES! We set a date for September 9th!
Friday- zone conference! Was able to meet other missionaries in the slcw mission which was fun! It's crazy how many missionaries are serving here I wasn't expecting that. Then next few hours we did a lot of knocking on doors and were able to talk to a few people (the people that actually answered their door lol) For lunch we went to a Polynesian grill and It was really good I was able to have leftovers for two lunches after that haha. More knocking on doors and then we has a lesson with our friend Aeden. We talked about the plan of salvation and then had another lesson with Ashish and talked about tithing. We also met a girl riding her bike on the street and we asked if she was interesting in learning more about Jesus Christ. She said she was a gave us her address but when we went to her house later that night it was the wrong house... so idk what happened there but then we were able to find someone else who said he was interested so yay
Saturday- we were able to take our friend Ashish to a baptism because he wanted to see what it was like and he said it was good! Then we went to help a sister clean the church and washed windows funnn after that we went looking for new people but didn't really have any luck unfortunately. We did have one lady who was willing to talk to us so we were able to share a message but she wasn't really interested in learning more. We did get a referall from the Spanish speaking Sisters so we're going to meet with him soon! We then went to stake conference! After stake conference we has a lesson with two girls Teresa and Natalie. We asked the baptism interview questions and they did really good! Sis Heckert felt prompted to invited them to be baptized and they said yes! The crazy thing is apparently the missionaries have been working for a while with these girls and they've never had permission from their parents. But we got a permission and set a date for Teresa September 16! Natalie turns 8 in Oct so we'll have to wait until then but we're super excited for them! Literally a miracle!
Sunday- more stake conference! It was really good! The topic was peace in christ + the musical numbers were also so good! Two of our friends came, ashish and aeden which was so great and they both loved it! I was also to meet a lot of the members so that was great! I met two elders who's leaving for the mtc this Wednesday. Ones going to Oregon and the other is going to the Albuquerque NM mission! Which is my home mission! So I was super excited for him! We then went to another ward to see if our friends went! And they did! We had dinner at a members house and it was great! We then went to another member families house to share a message and it was fun to meet + talk to them too!
Monday (today)-pday! We went to the zoo as a district and I fed a giraffe it was so fun! Then we went grocery shopping + made food! We have another lesson tonight with our friend Ashish and our new friend Ivan!
Other stuff:
-in my area (magna + west valley city) we cover two stakes so there's lots of work+ and Sundays are super busy but it's so fun!
-here in this part of Utah there's lots of wild sunflowers and it makes me SO HAPPY because I love sunflowers!
- sis heckert also loves running so we've been able to go running every morning which has been really nice!
Spiritual moment:
My favorite scripture is D+C 68:6 and I've shared it with so many people but it's so good! 'Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.'
This is such a great reminder that God is always with you so you dont need to fear! I'm constantly thinking about this scripture especially with all the changed going on in my life right now and it's super helpfull to me!
