Baptism Count
Another great week in Salt Lake city west!
Started the week off strong by helping elder Lundgren our car maintenance guy, Inspect 2 zones of mission cars while they were at zone conference and it was so fun! I also learned a lot so that's good too
Zone conference was amazing!! We had many trainings, activities and some delish food! I was also able to meet more of the missionaries in my mission which was really nice! For the trainings we talked about the importance of gaining a PhD in p.m.g (the book that guides us on how to teach, what to teach, how to find people to teach ect) and how to do that. We also had trainings on companionship unity, finding people and how to have faith in jesus christ. As a missionary we set a goal to baptize 150 people! Which would be 1+ ,2+ people per companionship! I'm super excited for October! I know we can do it!
This week we also had quite a few after baptism lessons which was so great because I was able to meet more friends that we're teaching! At one of our lessons we got fed chocolate cake, ice cream and lemonade which was good but I thought I was gonna die of sugar overload after that hehe
Top 5 miracles for this week!
1) at the beginning of the week our friend Ashish canceled his baptism once again...we were devastated. We still were going to keep trying though and we were still able to set up another lesson for Thursday. We decided to go to the church and show him the baptismal fount to see if that would maybe help him want to commit to baptism. We talked about how Jesus also got baptized too to be that example and show us how we need to be baptized by immersion. We were also able to talk more about the atonement and showed him some paintings of Jesus that are hung around the church. Yall it was SUCH an AMAZING lesson the spirit was so strong!! As we were leaving and heading to our car Ashish came back over and said "actually I will get baptized Saturday" WE WERE SO EXCITED ! And he did!! He got baptized and confirmed and he was so happy! We've been able to see how the gospel of Jesus christ has changed his life ! It was such an amazing experience! :,)
2) the missionaries have been meeting for a veryy long time with the Garcia family ! We've mostly been teaching the kids but lately when we tried to schedule appointments through the parents they've been ghosting us, they've been going through lots of hard times so we understand. We decide to visit them on Wednesday and we were able to talk to the parents and they said they would all like to take the lessons as a family!!!! We were so excited to hear this and met with them on Friday! After our lesson the parents expressed interested in being baptized! They're kids also wanted to get baptized so we set a date to be baptized November 11!! That's 5 baptisms! We're so excited for them!
3) In my past emails I've been talking about Lorena and Kaleb and how amazing it has been teaching them! Since day 1 they've been wanting to get baptized but we had to teach them first. This week we were able to invite them to be baptized and set a date for Oct 21st ! More excitement!
4) Our friend Ayden was also baptized on Saturday! She's the cutest and has such a strong light about her! After her baptism her brother Tristen expressed interest too so we're hoping to start teaching him too!
5) the same thing happened last week too! after Teresa's baptism we talked to her cousin also named Tristin and he said he was interested in learning too! We met with him on Monday and put him on date for baptism Oct 14!
Randoms:
-we get to go to general conference next week IN PERSON with some of our friends. How exciting!
-i would like to apologize to the members who live upstairs (we live in their basement) for the occasion screams...there are spiders:/
Spiritual moment:
Romans 8:16
"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."
I think it's so important to remember that we are all sons and daughters of God. We are all brothers and sisters and he loves us all. If there's someone in your life that you're struggling to get along with or love remind yourself of this scripture and you may gain a knew perspective that could help :) as a missionary knowing this makes me more motivated to talk to people and share the gospel! We're here to "assist our father in heaven in his glorious work." Which is so cool to think about!
I love and miss you yall!!
sis laws :)
