The Highs And Lows Of Missionary Work
howdy yall !
not gonna lie the beginning of the week was a little rough. We have 11 friends on date for baptism however we had to move 9 of them to a later date (3 familes). The reason mailny being it is IMPOSSIBLE to meet with these families constisitlety. We schedule lessons in advance and then they cancel them. the struggle is real. however as the week continued it got so much better! miracles happened!
monday ♡
Zone pday! Consisted of yet again volleyball and gator ball. For proselytizing we visited members to get referalls and had a lesson with Mikelle who's getting baptized the 11th!
tuesday ♡
Halloween! and my 3 month mark! Yay! We spent lots of the day planning our week and setting goals. We also visited some families and wished them a happy halloween! In the evening we went upstairs and helped Sister McKinnon pass out candy! She also served us some amazing food + played card games!
wednesday ♡
we did car inspections in the morning!and had 5 lessons is the afternoon to evening. We met with the Quinn family and taught the restoration the kids already knew so much it was awesome. The son who's able to be baptized wanted to learn more! #newperson !
thursday ♡
Zone conference day! My favorite! Today we had trainings on asking inspired questions, finding scriptures to answer questions of the soul, and also how to lead music lol. President also talked about repentance and referred to the talk by Elder D. Todd Christofferson called 'The divine gift of repentace'. I definitely gained a new perspective on the importance of repentace and how its a gift from God! In the evening we had 4 lessons:
1. Paul! Paul Is the cutest and so ready for baptism! We completed all the lessons and we're very excited for him. He's also been inviting all his friends and teachers it's been awesome !
2. The poulson family..soooo a little background. The poulson kids have gone through 4 sets of missionaries. They haven't gotten baptized yet because the dad is worried they don't understand what they're committing to. This lesson was good though because we were able to talk to the dad about his concerns and put them back on date for Nov 18th. We're really hoping by then that he'll see that they're ready because we know they are! Please pray for the poulson family
3. Tiara and tamara- mom and daughter. We reviewed the restoration and are just trying to help them gain a testimony!
4. Raul! We love Raul. We've been teaching him for a while and are helping him progress towards baptism! He's so close!
Friday♡
had Zone council + tonyburgers for lunch #fire also had multiple meetings and made a few contacts in the evening. We finally met with the Garcia family #miracle and were able to set expectations. Bishop was also there too which was alot of help towards us! We were able to put them back on date for Dec 2nd and they committed to coming to church evrey week + classes and follow the word of wisdom! It was such a good lesson !
Saturday♡
very busy day. we made a TON of contacts as we're trying to find more people to teach. Had some spontaneous lessons as well which is always fun and so spirit driven.
Sunday:
an even busier day. We went to 3 sacrament meeting and had 5 lessons. I won't go into detail but I do want to mention the 4 miracles we were able to see:
1. The Garcia family came to church and classes! It was their first time going to classes ans they loved it!!!
2. We had a lesson with Mikelle and her mom who we've only been teaching for 2 weeks who's being baptized this Saturday! We had 3 mini lessons in one!
3. Our friend paul who's being baptized Nov 18th bore his testimony in sacrament meeting!
4. We had another lesson with Max (our new person we found last sunday) we invited him to be baptized and he accepted we put him on date to be baptized Dec 2nd ! He's already attending church and reading the book of mormon! He's so ready and we're so excited!
Randoms:
-sis lamphere made us homemade pretzels! they were so good !
-sis heckert taught me how to make gimbop and again so good!
-today we went to CVS to print pictures and someone grumpy old man came up to sis lampher basically ordering her to check him out....it was funny when she told him she doesn't work at CVS just because she was wearing a red shirt lol
Spiritual moment:
Here are some of my favorite quotes from Elder D. Todd Christofferson's talk The Divine Gift of Repentace-
♡ "without repentace there is no real progress or improvement in life"
♡ "only repentace leads to the sunlit uplands of a better life"
♡ "whatever the cost of repentace, it is swallowed up in the joy of forgiveness"
Hope you all have a great week! Love you all!
