Grammy Paula ♡

Hello! I wanted to share my favorite memories and everything I've learned from Grammy! Enjoy!

Looking back, I am so grateful for the many opportunities I had in my life to grow memories and experiences with my grandma. We became close and I learned so much from her. She was very special to me and was one of my favorite people. Whenever someone asked me questions like “Who do you look up to the most?” or “Who's an example to you?” I always mentioned grandma.

Her musical and artistic skills were amazing and I'm so grateful that I was able to develop some of those skills from her and plan to continue to develop those skills after my mission for personal development and in memory and honor of her. My desire and commitment to learn the piano in my early years and throughout my youth sparked from her, she always pushed me to be better. She was very talented and was able to share those talents with others around her including church congregations, piano students, and of course, her family. She was very selfless and was always looking for ways to serve others including the missionaries who served in her ward. She was kind, thoughtful, and always knew what needed to be done. She always had an answer to my questions and problems whether physical or mental. She was strong and went through many trials in her life but always had a positive outlook and always turned toward God. I loved hearing her testimony, she had so much knowledge of the gospel and wasn't afraid to share it with others, she was an amazing missionary. I loved when I would call my family on preparation days and she would just sit and listen to everything and then share her insights on the scriptures and what she learned from Come Follow Me that week. She could never figure out how to mute herself haha. I feel very blessed to have known her for 19 years of my life, as the oldest grandchild I know I am lucky and wish that my youngest brother, Beckett, and the younger grandchildren would have been able to know her the way I got to, but I know that God has a plan for all of us. I am grateful for this gospel and for the knowledge of the plan of salvation. I'm grateful for this amazing opportunity I have to serve the Lord and bring others closer to Christ. I know that God is aware of us and knows what we're all going through during this time. His Son, Jesus Christ, went through it too and I know as we turn to him we will be able to find peace, comfort, and strength. He went through it and because of that, he knows how to help us. I know that Grandma is now with her parents watching over all of us, teaching, serving, and helping others on the other side of the veil. I know that we will all see her again and that alone brings so much peace to me.

On occasional pdays Grandma would email me what she learned from her scripture study here is what she said:

♡I've been thinking of you this morning and read my scriptures and thought this scripture was so good and so true !

Joel 2: 28-29 .....I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy....

.....And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit!

I LOVE IT ! and I love you. Have a wonderful day.

♡Last night when I was reading in the Book of Mormon I noticed I had underlined these few lines and I thought of you. ...they are young, and their minds are firm and they do put their trust in God continually. Alma 57:27

I loved that. When I was teaching seminary I used to read scriptures backwards. I know....that's weird, but anyways... I like this scripture backwards because it teaches such an awesome principle.

...and they do put their trust in God continually,

...and their minds were firm !

..".and they were young" may not apply so much, but i do know you always feel young in spirit. Our thoughts are such a big deal. keep your mind firm in Jesus and it won't go someplace it shouldn't. It takes practice. Trust God continually and he will take your mind where it needs to go "Think Celestial" !

I love you girl. Looking forward to talking to you tomorrow.

Before I left on my mission Grandma and Papa got me a giant vase of flowers and grandma sent a note. I love her testimony of the Savior and would like to share what she wrote to me:

“I love Him and testify that He is our Savior. I know that His church is here on earth and has all the necessary Priesthood ordinances necessary for us to return to Him. Christ is who he says he is. He has done what he says he's done and will do what he promised. His promise to love

us, teach us, heal us, and gather us in true. I know that is true because I have experienced it throughout my life even when I was sure I was alone or unloved.”

When I first learned of her passing this scripture came to mind:

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Dear grandma,

Im going to miss your amazing hugs, your biscuits and gravy, your piano playing in the morning before church, binge-watching movies together while eating bon bons and chocolate cake, your flowers, making apple juice, gardening, painting together, playing qwirkle, listening to Lauren Daigle, running errands, eating chick fil a, cleaning the church together, having picnics, your scripture insights, your responses to my weeklies, and so much more. Thank you for being a christlike example, being willing to teach me piano and painting, and paying for me in those endeavors. Thank you for adjusting all my clothes and showing me how to quilt, cook, and garden. Thank you for always being there for me. :)

I Miss and Love you Grammy!

Much Love,

My favorite memories:

•When I would be at her house and she would help me practice the piano and play duets. She was always so willing to buy me any sheet music I wanted too.

•Since I was young until the summer before I left on my mission we would go out to her garden and help her plant tomatoes, squash, green beans, flowers, etc.

•I remember when I was around 6 or 7 when we would be over visiting, for breakfast she would make Aj and I keifer and toast and we would eat on the deck upstairs. I remember the picture she took of us and our Keifer mustaches

•My American Girl doll collection grew so much because of her !

•On Friday nights occasionally we would order Mexican food and chocolate cake from that one Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe. I would sometimes go with Papa to pick it up and then we would lay out the quilt and TV trays and eat in front of a movie. Grandma always ordered fajitas. •We loved going on errands together and would always go out to eat at Chick-fil-A, and let's not forget the bonbons that we'd always get at Trader Joe's.

•When I was around 12 years old grandma and I would sit in the living room and draw together. I remember we would specifically draw desserts in this little black sketchbook as we watched the Great British Baking Show. (Someone should try to find me those drawings. the sketchbook is probably under the table in the living room)

•When the Little Woman movie came we went as girls to watch it!

•Before bed she would come into the loft room where I was and we would talk as I would braid her hair.

•Some of her favorite movies and TV shows to watch with the grandkids were Shaun the Sheep, The Pink Panther (cartoon), Granite Flats, and The Great British Baking Show. •During my endowment session I got pretty sick so I laid down on a couch in the children's room for a few hours. Grandma sat next to me the whole time.

• Grandma always spoiled me, in fact half of my mission clothes are from her and for New Year's this year, she sent me a package of New Year's goodies as well as some jewelry from her mom and some bracelets she purchased for me. I wear them every day.

+ SO much more !! ♡
