Ghost Pepper + Grasshoppers
heyyyyoo
Time is truly flying by this week went by so fast!
So a little rundown of this past week we definitely got our service hours in! We helped a family paint their daughters room purple so that was so much fun and then we also helped another lady move her furniture around and clean our her garage. We also cover 10 sisters here in the Tooele Valley and there are a lot of opportunities to serve that come with that let me tell yu. One of the sisters just came back to the mission but didn't get her money like she was supposed to with the rest of us, so me and my companion Sister Grant decided we would go to the store to buy food for her. 5 minutes after we bought the food she called us telling us that she just got her money, we laughed at ourselves the whole drive back to her apartment but she still appreciated the food!
OKAY YALL WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH UTAH RIGT NOW there is LITERALLY (emphases on LITERALLY) a grasshopper invasion going on right now. No joke. They're everywhere. Masses. It's so disgusting. In fact, one decided to jump into my dress one day and my soul about left my body at that point. I've come to the conclusion that I can do snakes, I can do spiders for the most part but grasshoppers?! Absolutely not. My worst enemy. I have no mercy.
Anywayy I kinda went on a rant there but it's okay. Back to the good stuff
One of the ward relief society's activities this week was a painting class and we all painted cute little coy (or koi?!) fish. So cute. Happy moment.
This week in our labors to find more souls to teach we found success! We met granger who was taught by missionaries in the past and was open to meeting with us ! Yay! We also got a referall from a dope member about a new move in. Lenae and her husband just moved here from North Carolina and we met lenae ! She is so awesome! We talked a lot about our Heavenly father and how he loves all of us and a bit about his plan for us and she was so open to it all and wanted us to come back! We set up a time on Tuesday!
Something our mission is really focusing on is having all our friends attend a baptism service before their own. That way they fully understand what it will look like and so they feel more comfortable, and of course to feel the Spirit. Well we invited our friend Gracie to come AGAIN to a service with us, she didn't end up coming AGAIN but we'll keep trying for the future! 3rd times a charm!
On saturday was the Erda stake family field day! All wards competed together in a wiffle ball tournament and it was a lot of fun! Lots of people came that we were able to talk to and of course, good food! It also finally hit 100° here in Utah! Starting to feal more like home!
On sunday for dinner we went to the Records home and after dinner we did a chicken wing G
ghost pepper challenge. (Well 3.5 of us did) there were 4 chicken wings that went from least hot to hottest. Buffalo, Chipotle, habanaro and finally, ghost pepper. They honestly wernt that bad the ghost pepper one just made my lips a little tingly.
We were knocking doors one day and we came across this house that we had no information or record of so we decide to knock his door. This guy opened the door and we said hi and stated our purpose and evreything and then he started saying some really not kind words about a lot of things including the temple, jospeh Smith and salt lake city for crying out load! When he said the things he did about Joseph Smith it really broke my heart and I did get a little defensive but stopped myself and we excused ourselves amd left. I knew immediately that the reason he said all these things was because he actually didn't understand any of it. It also grew my testimony of everything that he said because I know that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God. I know that temples are the house of the lord and I know that this church is true. I've learned that Utah missions are very very different from most other missions because the gospel is so known here. Most people know about the church and have their own opinions wether it's good or bad but I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to share my testimony everyday of what I've come to know to be true and lots of times we come in contact with people who don't have very good opinions about the church but those experiences really just grow my testimony even more, so im grateful for that!
BUT this upcoming week is going to be pretty exciting. Our new mission president is coming in!
Spiritual moment:
Doctorine and Covenants 84:88
And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.
HE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU!!
have the best week!
